Sunset Beach is the most conveniently located, family-friendly Dive/Snorkel & Beach Club equipped with ocean view bar and Mexican Restaurant. We have water-sports activities for the whole family.

Sunset beach is located just south of down town and just a 2 minute walk from Park Royal, El Cid, Casa Del Mar, Mayalum and Villa Blanca. Forget about spending all day traveling to far away beach clubs that just waste your precious vacation time. You are here in Cozumel so it is time to start relaxing not traveling!

Certified Scuba Diving

Cozumel scuba diving is one of the most amazing experiences in the world.
Featuring up to 200 feet of visibility, crystal clear blue water, brilliant colored coral reefs, breathtaking wall dives, and a variety marine life second only to the great barrier reef, all in the confines of the Marine Park “Arrecifes de Cozumel”. It’s truly a sight not to be missed. An incredible array of marine life can be seen on these dives – stingrays, nurse sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and lobsters.

Tour Description:
Whether you’re an experienced scuba diver or newly certified, enjoy some of the best drift diving at “Arrecifes de Cozumel” National Marine Park, known for its spectacular coral formations. Depending on the day’s conditions, your first stop may be the Palancar Gardens, a classic Cozumel reef. Your second dive will be the captain’s choice, guaranteed to be teeming with tropical fish, lobsters and moray eels. All of the dive locations are within the “Arrecifes de Cozumel” Marine Park and everything within its boundaries is strictly hands-off. Take only pictures and leave only bubbles. Our professional dive masters will guide you with an emphasis on safety and best sustainable practices, making sure your interaction with wildlife is as minimally intrusive as possible. This is limited to certified divers who have been on a dive within the last two years.

What to Bring:
Strongly recommend wearing light clothing, your bathing suit and a rash guard for sun protection.
Sun protection (sunglasses , hat and sunscreen)
All sunscreens are prohibited at our location rash-guards are strongly recommended.

Important Notes:
Certified divers must present a valid certification “C” card in order to participate. Tank and weights are included for all divers, wetsuit is not included. Guests who have medical concerns should consult with their personal physician before engaging in any activity that may be strenuous for them.
Please consult our medical waiver for specific questions regarding health restrictions. If a “yes” answer is required for any question you must have a written letter from a medical physician authorizing you to participate in a diving activity. Sand Dollar Sports reserves the right on any final decision regarding your ability to dive.

Discover Scuba Diving

An unforgettable diving experience coupled with hands on learning.
This diving experience has been designed to give first timers a hands on learning and interactive scuba dive. This is an exciting way for snorkelers to take the next step and discover the incredible diversity of Cozumel’s underwater world. Once your instructor fits you into your scuba equipment you’ll be assisted into our shallow entry. After completing a few confidence building exercises, you’ll head out with your instructor for a guided tour of our Reef Restoration projects and an exploration of this new and amazing world of fish and coral.

Highlights:
Our beach location has the first Coral Lab in Cozumel and provides support to the NGO “Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program”. When you book this tour, you contribute to the preservation of our coral reefs.
Instruction and orientation from a PADI instructor.
Dive from the beach (maximum depth of 25 feet)

Tour Description:
This tour has been designed for the non-certified diver. After receiving 15 minutes of instruction and orientation from a PADI instructor, you will be fitted with your scuba gear and enter the water directly from the beach. A few minutes are spent in waist-deep water for you to get used to breathing underwater. You will then head out with the instructor, who will guide you in the exploration of this new and amazing world of fish and coral. The dive site reaches a maximum depth of 25 feet.

What to Bring:
Cash or credit cards for photo or boutique purchases.
Sun protection such as a hat, sun glasses a Lycra or Rash-guard. All sunscreens are considered pollutants and not allowed.
Bathing suit, loose fitting clothing or a change of clothes for post activity.

Important Notes:
Some health restrictions do apply. Please review our medical waiver for specific questions. If a “yes” answer is required for any question you must have a written letter from a medical physician authorizing you to participate in a diving activity.

SNUBA

Enjoy the underwater breathing experience of scuba diving with the ease and simplicity of snorkeling.
It’s called SNUBA and it’s perfect for those who enjoy snorkeling but are not ready for scuba diving. You will be introduced to the amazing underwater world without all the cumbersome equipment. Join the experience of a lifetime and see the amazing marine life as you explore the various Reef Restoration projects and fish habitat that are maintained and developed in coordination with Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration program. A portion of the proceeds for this tour are donated back to this local restoration program.

Highlights:
Enter the water from the beach with a PADI instructor who will guide you with an emphasis on safety and best sustainable practices, making sure your interaction with wildlife is as minimally intrusive as possible.
Snuba for 20-30 minutes exploring our reef restoration and coral gardens.
When you book this tour, a portion of the proceeds go toward the preservation of our coral reefs, supporting the NGO “Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program”.

Tour Description:
Snuba is the perfect introduction for those who want to experience the thrill of scuba diving, but without all of the class time and equipment involved. This adventure is a one of a kind thrill where you will experience what it is like to be a diver. The course is easy and fun and introduces you to a whole new underwater world.
You’ll receive a pre dive orientation in Snuba from your PADI certified dive master. Entering the shallow water from the beach you’ll be given an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the breathing equipment before you head out into deeper water. Then enjoy approximately 20-30 minutes exploring the crystal-clear Mayan Caribbean and all of our reef restoration projects and fish habitat abounding with brilliant colored tropical fish.

What to Bring:
Sun protection such as a hat, sun glasses a Lycra or Rash-guard. All sunscreens are considered pollutants and not allowed.
Cash or credit cards for photos or boutiques purchases.
Strongly recommend wearing bathing suit, loose fitting clothing or a change of clothes for post activity.

Reef Restoration

It’s time to give back to the sea!
Help us to restore the coral reefs of Cozumel with a group of local marine biologists. Sand Dollar Sports has joined forces with “Global Coral Reef Alliance” (GCRA), “Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration Program” (CCRRP), “Minecraft Underwater World” and “Biorock” to create Cozumel’s only Reef Restoration program and Coral laboratory.

Tour Description:
Coral Reef Experts will provide you with a brief introduction to coral reproduction and coral restoration concepts. Part of your class includes an up close look at coral spawning and reproduction at our shore side aquariums along with a hand’s on program that includes assisting with any number of projects needed depending on what’s needed at the time of your participation. Afterwards your guides will take you on a snorkel tour of our coral gardens where you’ll see coral transplanting or coral gathering and identification. You may also participate in beach clean-up activities or mangrove planting, depending on the area’s needs.

After your participation in the restoration program you’ll have time to rinse off and relax on the beach. There is a restaurant and bar at the location with great local food and drinks (at guests own expense). Your guides and coral restoration team will be available afterwards for any further questions you may have. As you foster meaningful relationship with the community, you’ll celebrate marine life and help continue conservation efforts for generations to come. This is a great way to explore a destination, understand and preserve the local ecosystem, while protecting the environment. Activity would be in partnership with the local non-profit “Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration AC.”. Proceeds of this activity support the Coral Farms program in Cozumel, allowing Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration to continue their efforts to replenish coral reefs, as well as educate and empower others to take care and better our ocean.

“Cozumel Coral Reef Restoration” certificate of participation is awarded to all participants.

Shore Snorkel

This is a great snorkeling tour for beginners.
Join us for the experience of a lifetime. You’ll be escorted by your guide over several of our Coral Reef Restoration areas where you could see our biologists and volunteers working to preserve corals for future generations.

Highlights:
Instructions and site orientation are given by a PADI Divemaster
Easy access from the beach using our stairs and handrails

Tour Description:
Snorkeling from shore is the easiest , fastest way to observe our coral gardens and tropical fish. Even the most novice snorkeler will have a memorable experience. Your PADI certified dive guides will assign you snorkel equipment and give you in-depth information on how to use the gear, show you how to snorkel correctly and then help you into the water for your guided tour. Enjoy spectacular views of our coral restoration programs along with our brilliant colored tropical fish inhabiting the various projects and coral reefs in the area. Your guide will inform of safety and best sustainable practices, to make sure your interaction with wildlife is as minimally intrusive as possible. The depths at this site vary from 3 to 20 feet of water. A staircase makes entry and exit out of the water easy.

SNORKEL TOUR + LUNCH

Bike to Aerolito Spring and Snorkel at Sunset Beach

Discover the treasures of Cozumel Island by Bicycle.
This is a great tour for those seeking an active combination. At the beginning of the tour you’ll be guided “caravan style” along the west coast of Cozumel to an ancient Spring (cenote) called Aerolito. We’ll stop here for a short briefing by your guide on the importance of the mangroves and how the “cenotes” are critical to the islands water filtration systems.

The beauty of the Aerolito cenote is truly magnified once you understand the importance of the endemic animals and plants that surround this magical geological formation. Aerolito is only one of thousands of these cave formations that dot the Yucatan Peninsula and form part of the entrance to the ancient Mayan underworld known as “Xibalba”.

Heading back toward the town of San Miguel your next stop will be Sunset Beach. Now that you’ve warmed up on your ride it’s time to cool off in our beautiful warm Caribbean waters. Our professional experienced PADI certified guides will get you fitted into your snorkel gear and provide you with a short briefing about the amazing fish and coral you are about to see. There is plenty of time for beginners to get comfortable in shallow water before heading into deeper water and the Cozumel Reef Restoration program. The only Reef Restoration program on the island of Cozumel. Seeing the coral in their natural environment will bring you to the next step in understanding the island filtration systems and their importance to the Reef systems and the fish that live within them.
After your in water activity it’s time to rinse off , dry off and relax while we serve you a complimentary soda or beer along with a refreshing snack.

Bird Watching and Island Tour

Welcome to our Cozumel Island paradise. “El Cedral” is one of Cozumels’ hidden treasures for bird watchers, insect photographers and wild life lovers.
Your bird watching specialist will show you some of his secret birding and wildlife locations. The Mango and Emerald hummingbirds or the endemic Vireo are some of the natives we should spot. Your local guide who was born and raised here in Cozumel will be proudly sharing some of his native Mayan History throughout the day.
After leaving Cedral everyone will be invited to partake in some fresh fruits and beverages to cool off before the tour continues its trip around the island to “The Punta Sur Ecological Park”. The Eco park locally known as “Punta Sur” is home to an incredible variety of fresh and salt water species. Egrets, Pelicans and Fishing Eagles (Osprey) are commonly spotted in the park. Flamingos and Spoonbill roseate (seasonal) also frequent the mangroves and lagoons that encompass the park and its natural features.
While at Punta Sur the guide will share with you some of the local history and how the Mayans began to populate the Island. The 5 distinct eco systems that exist and how they interact and have created the magic that Cozumel has become over millennium. As you depart and drive along the Eastern shore there will be opportunities to take some landscape photos and of course what would a photo trip be without a selfie or two!! Continuing the island tour, it will end where it began at Sunset Beach restaurant & bar. You’ll be able to cool off and take a plunge in the beautiful Caribbean and when you’re ready your choice of a soda or local beer along with a delicious snack will be served.

The exposition of this art will increase your awareness of Ocean Conservation and will inspire you to Respect and Protect what you love – Nature.
Riding your bike , you’ll be able take a long look at the heart of Cozumel’s “Seawall” murals bringing life, color and a powerful message that you’ll never forget. We will finish our ride at Sunset Beach with a refreshing plunge and an amazing magical sunset on the Island of Cozumel .

Sea Trek Helmet Diving

Sea Trek Helmet Diving is the easiest, most comfortable way to explore Cozumel’s pristine underwater world.
Walking and breathing are the only skills required. You’ll wear an astronaut-style helmet that provides a continuous air supply while you’re under water while keeping your head and shoulders dry. During your trek, you will become part of the underwater world and explore beautiful coral formations and sea critters of all shapes and sizes, always guided with the best sustainable practices, making sure your interaction with wildlife is as minimally intrusive as possible.

Wear an astronaut-style Sea Trek helmet and dive into Cozumel’s underwater world.
Relax beachside after your diving experience or go snorkeling.

Tour Description
After a short briefing on equipment, safety and communication, you will head to the Sea Trek platform right off the beach. Your experienced guide outfits you with an astronaut-style helmet that provides a continuous air supply while you’re under water. The specially designed helmet keeps your head and shoulders dry the entire dive. Your hair stays put, make-up on, and you can even wear your prescription glasses! A certified Sea Trek guide will be with you every step of the way, providing assistance and assuring a fun-filled adventure.
During your trek, you will become part of the underwater world. Explore beautiful coral formations and sea critters of all shapes and sizes. A half-hour later, it’s back up to dry land. Spend the rest of your Cozumel helmet diving excursion relaxing beachside, or swap your helmet for the complimentary snorkeling equipment and dive back into the water.

Deep Sea Fishing

White Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi & Wahoo are just some of the fish we will be fishing for on this tour!
Find the best concentrations of fish, as you drift and fish the trip away!

Highlights:
Cozumel and its nutrient rich waters attract some of the best sport fishing in the Caribbean. Fisherman and their yachts arrive from all destinations to try their luck and skill at catching a big Blue Marlin, white Marlin, or sailfish. Common catches are tuna, sierra, dorado, wahoo and barracuda. Bring your enthusiasm and a little luck and leave the rest to your Captain and crew to catch your prize.

You will be briefed prior to departure regarding sea conditions and chair rotation. The fleet of 31-foot Island Hoppers is ideal for Caribbean-style fishing. All of the boats are rigged with downriggers and outriggers and all lines will be rotated throughout the tour. All billfish are catch and release.
